Oak Console Table

Wicklow oak, Metal

The boards that make up this table were from a centuries old gnarly oak that had to be felled on the lane I live on.

It had a many twists and turns over it long life. I wanted to allow the boards to move as they dried to reflect this.

I have ebonised the oak to give it a dark purple black finish. A wire wool and vinegar solution is applied and this reacts with the tannins present in the oak.

It is finished with a clear hard wax oil.
